History of Generations Adoptions

Generations Adoptions is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) adoption agency licensed by the state of Texas to provide adoption services. Opened in July 2004, Generations began offering domestic infant adoption services to birth and adoptive families across the state of Texas. On April 1, 2008, Generations achieved Hague Accreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA) to offer international adoption programs for families in all 50 states. Our current programs include Uganda and Ghana. Our Mexico program is 'on hold' pending our accreditation in Mexico.

In Uganda, we work with a baby home near Kampala as well as a children’s home in northern Uganda. The children available for adoption are orphaned or abandoned. At the baby home, the infants are primarily ages 6 months – 36 months at time of placement. Older children are available for adoption at a children’s home that we work with.

In Ghana, we work with a children's home near Tema that works with orphaned and abandoned children, as well as children who have been rescued from child slavery to fishermen on Lake Volta.  The children available for adoption are primarily four to fifteen years of age, with some infants and young children available. Dedicated staff and caregivers nurture and love the children.

The Mexican national government is now requiring foreign based adoption agencies to be accredited by Mexico before they can place children into homes abroad. Generations Adoptions is currently seeking accreditation in Mexico, however we have not been approved yet. Therefore, we are not currently accepting applications for new families to enter our program. In Mexico, we work in the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila. The children available for adoption are primarily four years of age and older. Sibling groups are available. In Mexico, our in-country contact  provides services for the agency such as making phone calls, visiting offices and orphanages, as needed; and providing transportation, translation, guide services, and support for adopting families during their time in Mexico.

Mission Statement

To provide permanent Christian adoptive families for children in need; counseling and support services for women throughout their pregnancy; and families for orphans around the world.

Christian Ministry

Generations Adoptions joyfully provides Christian families for orphans around the world, as well as infants in the U.S. We exist for ministry – ministering to birth mothers seeking to place their child in a loving family; ministering to adoptive families following God’s call to care for orphans as well as those struggling with infertility; and ensuring every child will have a Christian family that will allow them the opportunity to know Jesus and the Father Heart of God.

Child Placing Staff

Generations has been under the leadership of Cathy Sones, Executive Director, since opening in 2004. There are currently six full-time and two part-time child placing staff at Generations, including one part time DFW regional caseworker. Our staff travel across the State of Texas providing adoption services to birth parents, adoptive families, and children. Visit the Staff page to learn about each staff member.

Celebrating Adoption

Generations hosts an annual Family Reunion each summer where our families come together to celebrate adoption.

Each fall, Generations hosts its annual fundraiser, the Hope Gala, an Entertaining Evening Celebrating Adoption.

James 1:27 “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”

Psalm 68:6 “God places the lonely in families…”
