Meet Brent &
Melissa
Dear
Birthmother,
Our names are Brent and
Melissa and we want to thank you for taking the time to read
our letter and learn more about our family. We want to acknowledge how
much we admire the decision to place your child for adoption. We can
appreciate how very difficult this decision must be for you. We can
also see how difficult it must be to find that perfect fit of a family
for your sweet baby. We would like you to know that if you do decide to
place your child in our family, we promise that your child will never go
a day without being loved. We have been so blessed to have walked
through the adoption process before. We were blessed with a sweet baby
boy in August of 2007. Brodie is three and truly the joy of our lives.
All three of us are looking so forward in being able to extend our
family! We are so excited about becoming parents to another child and
Brodie cannot wait to become a big brother. Our family and friends are
also so excited for us! We hope this brief letter helps provide more
insight into who we are as individuals and as a family and why we have
chosen adoption to form our family.
We met at Baylor University
and started dating, then got engaged following graduation. We were
engaged for about a year and then married in July 2002 in Brent’s
hometown of Kerrville, Texas. We will celebrate our ninth anniversary
this year. We currently live in Waco, Texas in a peaceful little
neighborhood. We have great neighbors and some sweet friends that live
around the corner from us. We live near lots of family and friends
which we love! We are members at Highland Baptist Church and love the
community of friends and support it offers. As we mentioned before we
have walked through our son’s adoption in 2007. We knew prior to being
married that adoption would be the way our family would be formed. We
are unable to have children biologically due to a childhood illness that
Melissa overcame.
Brent went to Baylor
University and doubled majored in accounting and financial services
planning. Brent is a CPA and is currently employed with First City
Financial Corporation. Brent oversees tax matters for his company’s
businesses and various investment deals. Melissa went to Baylor
University and received her degree in social work. Since Brodie has
come into our lives Melissa has been a stay at home mom. Melissa would
say this has been the best and most rewarding job she has ever had. The
plan is for Melissa to continue to be a stay at home mom once we have
another sweet baby at home.
We would also like to share a
little about who we are and what we like to do. Brent is my best
friend. He is kind, patient, loving, smart, and a compassionate
person. He loves the Lord and treats others with great respect. He is
a wonderful dad to Brodie. He is such a great example of a dad to our
son. Brent loves to be outdoors. He enjoys hunting, fishing,
gardening and grilling. Melissa is kind, outgoing, and loving. She is
a godly woman who constantly wants to help others. She is my soul
mate. She makes me laugh and her life experiences help me keep things
in perspective. Melissa is a very loving and kind mom to Brodie.
Melissa enjoys working out, spending time outdoors, gardening, bible
study and getting together with her friends. Brodie is such a joy! He
is all boy. He is outgoing, witty, smart, and loves to make friends.
He constantly is making us laugh. He also has a very sweet and tender
side to him. He is very nurturing and loves to help. He enjoys being
outside and going to the zoo, park, museum, pretty much anywhere. We
as a family love to go to sporting events. We also love to spend time
outside together, cooking together and just being active and having
fun. We love the beach and go every year. We pretty much just like to
do things as a family. We also love to get together with our family and
friends when we can. We hope this letter has offered a small window
into our family. Thank you again for taking the time to read through
our letter. We pray that you have peace with your decision on finding a
forever family for your baby.
